Dr. Santa Ono, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of British Columbia, and his wife, Mrs. Wendy Yip-Ono, UBC Ambassador, invited the student residents of Carey to celebrate the end of the school year with them. On April 5, they graciously hosted 35 students and a few members of the Carey staff at the Norman Mackenzie House, the residence of all past and present Presidents of UBC.

FACULTY SHARING: MISSIONS FEST 2019 AND BIBLE STUDY

Every January, Vancouver is host to Missions Fest – one of Canada’s largest and most influential annual missions conferences. It’s a wonderful event. There are opportunities to learn about, and connect with many different mission agencies, to take in seminars, participate in sessions, and mingle with hundreds of brothers and sisters who share a common passion for the church’s mission.

CAREY PROFESSORS WEIGH IN ON POVERTY AND POOR ISSUES

Carey professors Chan and Brackney have joined major global specialists in an examination of religious perspectives on the poor and poverty. Their essays are found in a recently released book, Poverty and the Poor in the World’s Religious Traditions: Religious Responses to the Problem of Poverty (2019).

We are thankful for the dedication and hard work these colleagues have demonstrated and for their care for students as we have developed our student services over the past 18 months.

ADMISSIONS AND DEADLINES – NOV 2018

Effective January 1, 2019, Carey Theological College will be implementing an annual application timeline for admission to degree programs. This will help us to streamline the admissions process and to coordinate it with the allocation of student financial aid.

With new developments underway in Carey Theological College’s Doctor of Ministry program (such as the development and installation of a President’s Scholarship for the DMin), we will be moving the on-boarding of the next 2019 DMin cohort to June of 2019 (formerly January, 2019). The DMin Foundations course will be offered in June.

I need to thank God for leading my journey to Carey Theological College. The desire of getting equipped and discerning what God’s plan on me had moved me to look for a place to study. I didn’t have much confidence to manage the study of theology course and working at the same time That’s why I told myself to just give it a try on one course only. Later, I found out that there was an occasional student status which allowed us to try out course without long commitment.

This year, Carey Theological College is engaging in a comprehensive institutional self-study as part of our accreditation with the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada (ATS). The self-study includes a site-visit by an evaluation committee in November 2017.
