Carey Theological College is well on the way to developing a unique doctoral studies program. We have long had a D.Min program that has produced a wide variety of graduates, virtually around the world. Building on that solid foundation, now several factors are converging to give us a place of singular leadership.

First is our commitment to be a global studies degree program. We feel a sense of calling to something new and broad in the Kingdom of God. We are enrolling students from across Canada, Africa, the Pacific Rim, men and women, from many denominations. The richness of our classes and thesis projects is evidence of the priority to be a global orientation.

Second is our program structure. We understand the great variety of ministry settings, in the church, Christian organizations, and administrative roles. Using contemporary technology, we provide a unique combination of on-site classes, blended virtual seminars, specialized guided readings with recognized leaders in their fields, and the opportunity to do research on issues and questions of deep, compelling interest to the Christian community. Our streams of specialization (Preaching and Worship, Global Christianity) match contemporary concerns among the churches and mission centers. Candidates are paired with outstanding mentors to maximize their interests.

A third brand new asset is the unveiling of the William Carey Centre for Excellence in Ministry. The Board recently approved this nexus of resources to enable and equip the global Christian community. The Centre will provide research, online and traditional publications, lectures, an online library and teaching resources. Fellows in the D.Min program will connect with the Centre in using its resources, working at developing its information assets, and identifying with its objectives.

We invite applications for the 2019 cohort. For details, please check out our D.Min. page. For inquiries, please email Carey Admissions at or the Director of the Doctor of Ministry program at We welcome your inquiries!
