Carey Theological College is delighted to announce that Dr. Chun Tse, Assistant Professor in Biblical Studies (New Testament), has recently published his book The Marrow of Certainty: Thomas Boston’s Theology of Assurance. 

Dr. Tse's book is a significant contribution to the life and theology of Scottish theologian-pastor Thomas Boston, providing the first-ever intellectual biography of Boston in his Scottish context and controversies. In his work, Dr. Tse expounds on Boston's theology of assurance, focusing on six dimensions: trinitarian, covenantal, Christological, soteriological, ecclesiastical, and sacramental. He explores the ways in which Boston's understanding of assurance is both a divine gift theologically and a human endeavor pastorally.

Dr. Chun Tse has been part of the Carey faculty since 2022. He has also authored another book on assurance of salvation from the perspective of adoption, Assurance of Adoption: A New Paradigm for Assurance of Salvation (Wipf & Stock, 2020).
