BIBL699 - Special Topics in Biblical Studies: Colossians and Philemon

English

COURSE
TERM DATES: Jun 28 - Sep 03, 2021
3 CREDIT HOURS

This intensive course offers a close reading of the English text of Colossians and Philemon, with particular attention given to its socio-historical context, literary design, theological witness, and continuing significance among Christians.

Students will complete most of the work for the course by week four, needing only to complete a short assignment by week 6 (600–900 words) and a final integrative paper by week 10 (2,000–2,500 words).

There are six 3-hour long Zoom meetings scheduled for Mondays and Thursdays during Weeks 2–4. These will focus on discussion of the text and key interpretive issues.

Students who are unable to participate in some or all of these Zoom sessions can still take the course! You will complete an additional, shortened interpretive assignment in place of every two zoom meetings missed.

See the syllabus for more details about the course.
