COR 510 - Introduction to the Old Testament I
ENGLISH
WITH AMY CHASE
ONLINE COURSE
TERM DATES: Sept 28 - DEC 4, 2020
3 CREDIT HOURS
Course Description
The Torah (Pentateuch) and Former Prophets constitute the Bible’s first and longest story, an extended account of ancient Israel’s trials and triumphs stretching from Genesis to Kings, from creation to the Babylonian exile. These texts shape and debate Israel’s communal identity and understanding of the divine. This course explores genres and literary features, socio-historical contexts, theological themes and purposes while considering how these scriptures continue to speak to us today. Part of the Cornerstone sequence.
