BIOGRAPHY

Reverend Lai is known in Canada, Asia, and around the world for his deep love of God and his impact in the church. He has dedicated his life to teach the Bible and passionately lead the people of God. For over 40 years, Reverend Lai has been a pastor and professor, serving the Lord in Hong Kong, the United States, and Canada. He has been an important and discerning voice for the North American Chinese church as the director of the Hudson Taylor Centre at Tyndale Seminary.

Reverend Lai has a broad spectrum of specialisations: Preaching, Futures Studies, Team Building, Strategic Planning, Pauline Literature, Social Sciences and the New Testament. Since returning to Canada in 1986, he has been the senior pastor of a multi-congregational church (Scarborough Chinese Baptist Church)—a ‘traditional’ church that can change and adopt quite a few ‘ahead of the curve’ ideas.

While Reverend Lai’s commitment to exegesis and biblical study is exemplary, his writing and teaching also focuses on how faith can be real and vibrant for future generations of believers. Aware that culture and the church are changing, Reverend Lai seeks to equip and prepare the next generation of Christian leaders for what lies ahead.
