The West Side Youth Director will provide pastoral direction to students in Grades 6-12, their parents and youth volunteers. While primarily connecting with students, this person will also work to support and partner with parents in helping to raise lifelong followers of Christ. As appropriate, this person will also train and equip other youth leaders for the purpose of Christ-centered discipleship and formation. Working Relationships: The West Side Youth Director reports to the West Side Site Pastor with the support of the Pastor of Youth Ministry (Central Support). Ways You Will Contribute: • Leading youth programming – in life groups, neighbourhood outreach, and integration into wider church ministries • Developing and leading site-customized Sunday youth programing and assisting in central Friday programming. • Navigating transitions well (students entering and leaving the youth ministry). • Connecting relationally with youth, parents, and youth leaders outside of the Sunday service: • Connecting one-on-one or in groups - to have fun, talk, share life experiences, providing mentorship, celebrating significant moments, and just hanging out together. • Developing and supporting a team of youth leaders who can share in the ministry together and identifying opportunities for that team to grow spiritually. • Connecting with parents of youth both on Sundays and through occasional mid-week check-ins • Directing high crisis pastoral issues with site youth to Pastor of Youth Ministry and Site Pastor to support youth as required. • Regular communicating with the West Side team & CREO team. • Connecting with the Pastor of Youth Ministry about needs for curriculum, parent support resources, or suggested activities. • Participating in West Side Team and larger Tenth staff meetings as possible. • Ensuring safety standards are implemented and maintained. What You Bring: • Bachelor’s Degree or relevant theological education preferred, plus relevant experience in youth ministry leadership, developing emerging leaders, mentoring students, spiritual formation, outreach, and/or discipleship. • An authentic, growing faith in Christ, and evidence of ongoing personal spiritual formation and maturity. • A heart to work with students in Grades 6-12 and, families and leaders of varied social- economic, ethnic, and spiritual backgrounds. • Relational and outgoing, with a passion for connecting with people including those who do not yet know Christ or have little to no experience with the church. • Responsible - able to perform duties with minimum supervision. • Strong computer skills (we use Microsoft Office and Planning Centre Online). • Good communication skills; verbal and written. • Strong coaching skills and the ability to develop, challenge, and lead people. • Committed to attending Tenth Church West Side site.
