THE STUDENT EXPERIENCE

When will Carey's new student residence building be ready for occupancy?
Carey’s student residence building will be ready for occupancy in Spring 2025.

What types of housing options will the new student residence offer?
Students can choose from full studio suites or 2 to 3 bedroom apartments, including an in-unit kitchen and shared laundry room.

What is the duration of the housing offered to UBC students in the new residence?
The new student residence will offer UBC students year-round housing from May to April, or an 8-month lease from September to April.

What about food? Is there a meal plan or a kitchen?
Residents on an 8-month lease will receive a full meal plan that includes three fresh meals daily, seven days a week, with both dine-in and take-out options. Residents on a 12-month lease will have in-unit kitchens for their own meal preparation.

THE RESIDENCE PROGRAM

What unique opportunities does living at Carey provide?
Living at Carey offers unique opportunities for Christian formation, discipleship, spiritual growth, and a vibrant community life with fellow students.

How does Carey Hall support students' spiritual growth and discipleship?
We support students through regular Bible studies, worship nights, mentorship from Carey staff, and meaningful conversations. Our Dean of Students and Resident Assistants also walk along with the students to support community life.

How can I get to know my fellow residents? Are there community events at Carey?
Yes! We host worship times, Bible studies, fun events, and shared meals throughout the year. Additionally, there is an annual fall retreat designed to forge new friendships and enjoy God's beautiful creation at the start of the school year.

Carey’s Donation Policy

Spending of donations and other funds are limited to the programs and projects that are approved by Carey. At times, donations may be received that are restricted by the donor to a particular program or project. In cases where donations are restricted, Carey shall honour the restriction with the understanding of all concerned that should the program or project be completed or cannot be completed for any reason within a reasonable time as determined by Carey, then the remaining amounts, in whole or in part, may be used for other areas of need as determined by Carey.
