THE VARIETIES OF BAPTISTS IN CANADA

The earliest Baptists who came to North America were very reliant upon existing English confessions of faith. Numerically predominant were the First Day Calvinistic Baptists. Smaller groups included Scotch Baptists and Seventh Day Baptists. Later in the 19th century, German, Swedish, Ukrainian, and Chinese groups added greatly to Baptist identity in Canada. The Canadian Baptist story is one enriched with many subgroups.
