The overarching theological theme in Baptist life and thought is the Lordship of Jesus Christ. It extends to His work in Creation, His redeeming work for all humankind, and his roles as prophet, priest, and king. Jesus calls people to live a life that imitates his life and teachings, the goal of which is to become more Christ-like. When this happens, Jesus truly becomes Lord.
